This month, we are excited to be able to speak at This month, we are excited to be able to speak at the AITCAP (Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Conference in the Asia-Pacific) about what Travengers does to accomodate for autistic people and sensory friendly travel.

We have 3 autistic speakers (Emily, Flynn and Shalese) who will be giving short presentations about what they enjoy about travelling, what challenges they see in travel, and how travel can be made easier for them.

We’re also hearing from Juliette from @sensitivetravel about her experiences, from and Emma and Matthew from @autismspectrumaustralia about the work they’re doing to make Australia more autism friendly!

After 3,5 weeks away it’s good to be back in Aus After 3,5 weeks away it’s good to be back in Australia! 🙌🏼

Seeing family and friends was such a good feeling, as well as seeing something new like Paris.

News is that on the 18th April they scrapped the PCR test requirement to re-enter Australia, which made it a lot easier.

Instead I needed to isolate until I had taken a RAT test within 24 hours at home.
I also had to fill in a digital form before boarding the plane to Australia.

I’m now back refreshed and excited to kick on with everyone, with lots of exciting things coming up!

Travelling with the Sunflower Lanyard by @hiddendi Travelling with the Sunflower Lanyard by @hiddendisabilities_anz 🌻
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Recently, I was contacted by Sandee from Hidden Disabilities Australia and NZ. On my latest journey, I tried wearing the Sunflower accessories. I wore it to Sydney airport; one bracelet, and one lanyard around my neck.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I asked the friendly lady from the airline if she knew about the Sunflower Lanyard, and she said she didn’t.

The staff at the entrance seemed like she noticed my lanyard, but didn’t say anything, just guided me into the control area. (It would be ideal if more people are educated about the Sunflower Lanyard).

On our first day, we went to Surfers Paradise to explore the area and went for a swim at the patrolled beach, by the afternoon we went to Top Golf, and our crew loved it! 🙌🏼

Day 2 consisted of Supanova and Comic-con. Our crew checked out a lot of cool stalls around, as well as taking pictures with their favourite superhero!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
By Day 3, we explored and had our photo taken with all our favourite Warner Brothers characters as we spend the day at Movie World. They had a blast at the Movie World, although they had to wait in a line for a ride for an hour 😂

She is also a creative, a violinist who is interested in all things multidisciplinary / experimental art, body intelligence + biology, who is also currently studying acupuncture. In our recent blog post, we talked about travellin In our recent blog post, we talked about travelling internationally in a post-covid world. ✈️ 🌎
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Although I’ve missed travelling – not to mention missing dear family and friends and my home country the past 3 years, travelling overseas has felt scary.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The preparations for the trip were a bit more than I thought they would be, our travel organiser prepared me a thick folder of documents since many countries have different COVID regulations. I somehow felt at ease wearing my Sunflower Lanyard that Hidden Disabilities ANZ had given me.

It is April, which means it is Autism Acceptance M It is April, which means it is Autism Acceptance Month. We still need more awareness, but most of all we need acceptance and appreciation!

We always try educating people around us, based on learnings from the autistic community, and we often we hear back «oh I didn’t realise», or «wow I never thought of that».
Little by little!

We have a couple of things coming up this month to amplify autistic voices!
